Vedanta Power Limited has reported engaging more than 2,000 employees and business partners and reaching over 450 local communities during its Sustainability Month 2026 campaign. Held between September 21 and October 16, the initiative brought together environmental conservation, workplace safety and community development activities under the theme Good Starts With Us.
The campaign focused on three key pillars: Transforming the Planet, Transforming the Workplace and Transforming Communities. Activities included plantation drives, coastal clean-up programmes, water conservation, biodiversity protection, health camps and initiatives to promote sustainable livelihoods.

The campaign began with the launch of the company's FY 2025–26 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Annual Report by its senior leadership. According to the company, its CSR programmes benefited nearly 87,000 people during the financial year, while employees contributed more than 500 hours of voluntary service towards community development.Speaking about the initiative, Rajinder Singh Ahuja, CEO and Whole-time Director of Vedanta Power Limited, said sustainability remained central to the company's business operations, growth strategy and stakeholder engagement.
He highlighted the importance of protecting natural ecosystems, improving workplace safety and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities. He also emphasised that the company's commitment to environmental and social responsibility extends beyond the annual Sustainability Month campaign.
As part of its environmental conservation programme, Vedanta Power planted approximately 800 saplings, including fruit-bearing trees, across its operational areas. The company also introduced a Biodiversity Water Habitat to support local biodiversity and launched Water to Wings, an initiative involving the installation of water pots for birds. Coastal conservation activities were conducted under the Clean Coast, Safe Sea programme.
Water management was another important component of the campaign. Activities included identifying water leakages, preventing potential water losses and maintaining existing water conservation infrastructure.Through its Project Navi Disha, Vedanta Power supported nearly 3,800 farmers across more than 28,000 acres during FY 2025–26. The programme promotes climate-resilient agricultural practices and encourages alternatives to crop-residue burning. In another resource conservation initiative, more than 200 recycled notebooks were distributed among local community members in association with the Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board (CECB).
Vedanta Power also prioritised occupational safety and environmental risk management during Sustainability Month.A simulated sulphuric acid leakage drill was conducted to strengthen emergency response preparedness, improve chemical-handling practices and minimise the risk of soil and water contamination.
The company organised sustainability quizzes and interactive awareness sessions for employees and business partners. These activities encouraged participants to adopt responsible workplace practices and understand their role in reducing environmental risks. The campaign highlighted the importance of integrating safety measures and environmental protection into routine business operations.
Community development and women's economic empowerment formed another major part of the campaign.Through Project TARA, Vedanta Power has supported more than 2,000 rural women through skill development, livelihood opportunities and market access. The initiative operates through three Micro Enterprise Centres designed to help women develop and strengthen their businesses.
The company's sustainability carnivals also provided platforms for women-led enterprises to showcase their products. Stalls such as TARA – The Handmade Haat and Udyamini displayed locally produced handicrafts, homegrown products and environmentally friendly goods.
Healthcare initiatives were also organised as part of the campaign. Cancer screening and general health check-up camps collectively covered nearly 350 people. An awareness session on HIV/AIDS was also conducted to encourage preventive healthcare and improve community awareness.
Through Sustainability Month 2026, Vedanta Power sought to bring environmental responsibility, employee participation and inclusive community development under a common framework. The company's initiatives covered several areas, including natural resource conservation, sustainable agriculture, biodiversity protection, occupational safety, preventive healthcare and women's entrepreneurship.
