Cape Breton University highlights India expansion plans, student mobility pathways and long-term academic collaborations during New Delhi outreach session.
Cape Breton University held a New Delhi media roundtable led by David C. Dingwall.
Cape Breton University has reaffirmed India’s growing importance in the global higher education landscape, with its President and Vice-Chancellor David C. Dingwall describing the country as a strategic partner in shaping the future of international education.
Speaking at an event held at India Habitat Centre, Dingwall outlined the university’s priorities in India, its expanding presence across the country and its broader vision of strengthening the India-Canada higher education corridor.

The university said it is focused on building structured and accessible pathways for Indian students seeking international education opportunities. With students from over 70 countries and more than 60 areas of study, CBU aims to offer a globally connected learning environment supported by close academic engagement.
“India is fast emerging as a global powerhouse of talent and innovation, making it a strategic partner in shaping the next phase of higher education,” Dingwall said. He added that the university is looking to create future-focused collaborations that go beyond conventional academic exchanges.
According to the university, the current outreach programme across six Indian cities — Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Vadodara, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad — is among its most significant engagement initiatives in India so far.
As part of the visit, CBU is holding discussions with several Indian institutions including BML Munjal University, Parul University, Navrachna University and LJ University. These talks are expected to support academic partnerships, student mobility programmes and formal collaboration frameworks.
The delegation is also engaging with policy and industry stakeholders, including the National Economic Forum and State Council of Educational Research and Training, to align academic programmes with emerging workforce and economic priorities.
CBU said it is also exploring joint research initiatives and knowledge exchange programmes with Indian partners. The university noted that its emphasis on experiential learning, co-operative education and industry-linked programmes positions it as a strong partner for India’s higher education ambitions.
