The 17th edition of IIT Gandhinagar’s student-led technology summit will feature AI innovations, robotics, defence technology displays, engineering competitions, hackathons and live entertainment.

The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) is set to host the 17th edition of its annual technical summit, Amalthea 2026, on October 31 and November 1. Organised by students of the institute, this year's event carries the theme ‘Strands of Eternity’ and aims to bring together technology enthusiasts, researchers, industry professionals and student innovators.
The two-day summit will feature technology exhibitions, engineering challenges, national-level competitions, expert discussions and entertainment. The event will provide students with opportunities to explore emerging technologies, demonstrate their technical skills and interact with professionals from industry and research.

According to the event's official website, Amalthea has been organised by IIT Gandhinagar's student community since 2010, with a focus on hands-on learning, innovation and interdisciplinary problem-solving.
The Tech Expo will be one of the main attractions at Amalthea 2026. It will bring together startups, research laboratories and technology companies to showcase developments in areas such as artificial intelligence, robotics, electronics and sustainable technology.
The exhibitors listed in the institute's announcement include the Institute for Plasma Research, IIT Gandhinagar's Robotics Lab, Kapidhwaj AI, HP and ATSN AI.
Visitors will have an opportunity to explore projects and innovations spanning multiple technology sectors, including renewable energy, smart chemical sensing, maritime engineering and power electronics.
The summit will also feature dedicated exhibitions focused on defence and automobiles. The Military Expo is expected to showcase drones and other advanced defence technologies, while the Auto Expo will display vintage and classic cars alongside modern automobiles.
Vehicles mentioned in the event announcement include the Land Rover, Morris Minor, Ford Roadster, Ford Mustang and BMW M2, among others.
An Open Day is scheduled for October 31, giving visitors an opportunity to explore research and technological innovations developed by students, researchers and other participants.
According to IIT Gandhinagar's official event calendar, the Open Day will showcase research and innovation at designated campus locations, including the U-Corridor and AB 1 Foyer.
The initiative is intended to provide greater visibility to research projects and encourage interaction between students, academics, researchers and visitors.
A conclave and symposium are scheduled for October 31 from 2 pm onwards, according to the event announcement. The sessions will bring together representatives from government, industry and research to discuss emerging technologies and management challenges.
The speakers named in the institute's press communiqué include Neha Kumari, Director of the Gujarat State Electronics Mission; Dr Vinay Sharma, Principal Engineer at Tata Electronics; and H. S. Jatana of the Semiconductor Laboratory, Chandigarh.
Representatives from technology startups and other industry organisations are also expected to participate.
The discussions are intended to encourage knowledge exchange and explore the practical challenges associated with technological advancement and innovation.
Amalthea 2026 will feature competitions across engineering, science, technology and business. These activities are designed to give participants opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge to practical problems.
One of the major attractions will be the Boeing National Aeromodelling Competition's IIT Gandhinagar zonal round, scheduled for October 31 and November 1. The official competition page confirms the dates and identifies Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Goa as the participating region.
The press communiqué states that more than 100 teams are expected to participate in the aeromodelling event. Teams will demonstrate their aircraft design and flying capabilities as part of the competition.
Other activities listed in the announcement include:
Brainwiz: A science olympiad for students in Classes 8 to 12.
Low-latency trading challenge: An engineering-focused competition involving trading system performance.
Business and urban-planning hackathons: Challenges encouraging participants to develop solutions to practical problems.
Robotics competitions: Activities focused on engineering, automation and problem-solving.
Electronics and aerodynamics challenges: Competitions testing technical knowledge and design capabilities.
Sustainable energy challenges: Activities exploring engineering solutions related to energy and sustainability.
Together, these events are intended to encourage experimentation, collaboration and innovation among students from different institutions.
The second day of Amalthea 2026 will conclude with The Shunya, the summit's EDM Night. According to the press communiqué, the entertainment programme will feature a live performance by Ajitanshu Kumar, followed by DJ Rihya.
The event follows the introduction of EDM Night at Amalthea 2025, which reportedly attracted more than 2,500 attendees.
Students, technology enthusiasts and other interested visitors can check the event schedule, participation requirements, competition registrations and visitor-ticket information through the official Amalthea website.
The event is scheduled to take place at the IIT Gandhinagar campus on October 31 and November 1, 2026. Visitors should check the official website for the latest updates, individual competition timings, registration conditions and ticket availability.
