Banaras Hindu University is instituting three new scholarships, one each for the Faculty of Education, Central Hindu Boys School, and Central Hindu Girls School. The university has received donations to establish these scholarships, under its Pratidana initiative. Sh. Rahul Srivastava, a corporate leader based in Mumbai has made the donation in honor of his maternal grandmother Smt. Bindhyachal Devi, his paternal grandfather Sh. Madan Mohan Prasad and his paternal aunt Smt. Bimla Srivastava. His father Sh. L. P. Srivastava superannuated from the Central Public Works Department as Additional Director General after decades of contribution to numerous projects and thereafter worked as Advisor (Works) at IIT-Gandhinagar for more than a decade and was instrumental in development of its iconic campus. Mr. Srivastava recently called on Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sudhir Kumar Jain and conveyed his family’s admiration towards BHU and the role it has been playing not only in the field of education but also in shaping good citizens. The Vice-Chancellor acknowledged the kind gesture and generosity of Mr. Srivastava and expressed gratitude for the contribution made by his family.
The Bindhyachal Devi Scholarship (Rs. 25,000 annual) will be set up for the Faculty of Education and will be awarded to one first-year student of B.Ed. Special Education. The Madan Mohan Prasad Scholarship (Rs. 5,000 p.a.) will be offered to one student of class 10th at Central Hindu Boys School, while the Bimla Srivastava Scholarship (Rs. 5,000 p.a.) is meant for a student of class 10th at Central Hindu Girls School. The Pratidana initiative of Banaras Hindu University is aimed at mobilizing and garnering support from alumni and well-wishers, to establish scholarships for meritorious students, need-based financial aid, enhance learning opportunities, and promote excellence in teaching.
