More than 11 lakh saplings were planted within 24 hours in Indore of Madhya Pradesh, setting a new global record. This accomplishment shows a strong commitment to environmental sustainability in addition to enhancing Indore's reputation as the cleanest city in the country.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav of Madhya Pradesh accepted the official Guinness Book of World Records certificate.

"Indore is now number one in the world. Heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to my brothers and sisters of Indore for creating history on the plantation following our achievements in cleanliness. Thanks to your participation, Indore, the financial capital of Madhya Pradesh and the cleanest city in our country, has set a world record by planting more than 11 lakh saplings in a single day," said Chief Minister Mohan Yadav in a post on X.

He continued, "Inspired by our esteemed Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji and with the honorable presence of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah ji, Madhya Pradesh has proudly achieved this remarkable feat, conveying a powerful message of nature conservation and dedicated service to Mother Earth."

Nishchal Barot, a consultant for Guinness World Records, said that Assam had previously held the record for planting 926,000 saplings in a single day.

"The Guinness World Record title is 'Most trees planted by a team within 24 hours'. We began this record on July 13 at 7:03 pm, and it has lasted till today at 7:03 pm. The good news is that Indore broke the old record at 5:00 pm. Assam had the previous record of planting 926,000 trees in 24 hours. The numbers will be provided later. However, we have handed over the new world record certificate to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav," Barot said.

Revati Range, the plantation site, was split up into 100 sub-zones and 9 zones. 100 cameras were used to monitor the massive planting drive, which took the administration about 46 days to organize.

Urban Administration Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya addressed a press conference on July 13 to discuss the impending world record and the arrangements for the massive plantation drive, scheduled to take place on July 14.

Urban Administration Minister Vijayavargiya and Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava congratulated the people, along with BSF personnel and more than 200 social, educational, religious, and commercial organizations that took part in the plantation drive.

"The vision for planting 11 lakh saplings was conceived on May 27. After 46 days of hard work and a dedicated team, we have reached this significant milestone today," Vijayavargiya said.
