As the Delhi people are grappling with a water crisis, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has been continuously alleging that Haryana is not releasing Delhi's share of water into the Yamuna River, which has led to this extreme situation.
In light of this issue, AAP in Delhi staged a demonstration at Haryana Bhawan on Monday.
On the other hand, Delhi's Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena met with Delhi's Water Minister Atishi and Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj to discuss the water crisis situation, after which the LG has assured to have a dialogue with the Haryana government.
There is a severe water shortage in many areas of Delhi. Delhi has been grappling with a water crisis for the past month.
In areas of Delhi where water was available twice a day, now only once a day water is being provided.
Along with this, 200 teams have been formed to monitor so that there is no wastage of water. A fine of 2000 rupees is also being imposed on those who are wasting potable water.
AAP has been continuously alleging that the Haryana government is not releasing sufficient water into the Yamuna River, due to which the water level in Wazirabad is below average.
Due to the low water level, water is not reaching the water treatment plant. This has led to a water crisis in Delhi.
The Haryana government is accused of reducing Delhi's share of water. Delhi's Water Minister Atishi wrote a letter to Haryana's Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday, appealing to release sufficient water in the Munak Canal.
If water is not released on Sunday, a major drinking water crisis could arise in Delhi by Monday or Tuesday. Atishi had expressed this apprehension in the letter.
But water was not released from Haryana's side.
The Haryana government is accused of reducing Delhi's share of water. On the other hand, the Lieutenant Governor has asked for a report from the officials of the Delhi Jal Board on the guard situation in the Wazirabad reservoir and also on the wastage and leakage of potable water in Delhi.
In such a situation, the Lieutenant Governor may try to prove the failure of Delhi's Aam Aadmi Party government on the water shortage.
Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party has been continuously accusing the BJP government of Haryana of stopping Delhi's share of water.
However, a hearing is also to be held in the Supreme Court on Monday in the case of water crisis in Delhi.
However, the Supreme Court has already given instructions not to do politics on the water crisis.
