Vipul Amrutlal Shah says reuniting with Akshay Kumar for the alien action thriller ‘Samuk’ is a joyful and proud moment

Filmmaker-producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah has expressed his sheer joy and happiness at reuniting with superstar Akshay Kumar as their ambitious alien action thriller, 'Samuk' has gone on floors. Talking about the reunion, Vipul Amrutlal Shah said, “After a gap of 13 years, starting a new journey with Akshay Kumar today is a very, very joyful, happy and proud moment for all of us.” He added, “The ambition to create something better and bigger every single time with Akshay Sir has been the hallmark of our journey.
We have challenged each other in many ways to keep pushing ourselves and do better, and this time, the challenge is bigger than ever. I hope we create something together that people will absolutely love.” Directed by Kanishk Varma and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, Samuk is being mounted as a large-scale theatrical survival-action thriller. The film brings together an international creature and stunt team as it explores the alien genre in an Indian setting.

For the uninitiated, Shah and Kumar have previously collaborated on several films, beginning with Aankhen in 2002. Their association continued with Waqt: The Race Against Time in 2005, Namastey London in 2007 and Action Replayy in 2010. Shah also produced Singh Is Kinng in 2008 which starred Akshay in the lead. Talking about Samuk, the movie phas been in development for over two years, with Shah and Varma developing a world that combines military realism, survival elements and alien mythology. The makers are aiming to create a large-scale theatrical experience with an international production approach. Adding to the film’s scale, Academy Award-nominated creature-effects designer Alec Gillis has designed the central alien. Gillis is known for his work on films including ‘Alien and Predator’, while the project also features an international action team led by British action director Luke Tumber.
