Shruti Sharma from Heeramandi reacts to Sharmin Segal being trolled for her acting, says it’s mental harassment

Actor Shruti Sharma who is currently riding on the success of her role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar' recently reacted to the trolling, her co-actor Sharmin Segal received for her performance in the Netflix series.

In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Sharma said that Sharmin has equally tried her best to perform and while healthy criticism is welcome, trolling her is unacceptable.

"Honestly, I wasn’t aware that people were trolling her until now. I don’t know what audiences have liked or not liked about Sharmin, but I’ve seen her trying her best like everyone else on the sets. It doesn’t matter who’s being trolled, but trolling is a bad thing to do,” she said.

She further said that this kind of trolling is unacceptable and she is concerned for her.
Sharmin Segal is the niece of filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and portrays Alamzeb, the younger daughter of the courtesan Mallikajaan, portrayed by Manisha Koirala.

Earlier, Sharmin also assisted Bhansali in 'Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela' (2013), 'Bajirao Mastani' (2015) and 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' (2022). She made her acting debut with the 2019 film 'Malaal'.

"Criticism is one thing; healthy criticism is always welcome, but trolling is unacceptable. It is a very negative way of approaching anyone. It is a kind of mental harassment. If it is happening, I am very concerned about her right now,” Sharma said.

Shruti Sharma stepped into the industry as a participant in India's Next Superstars. She has earlier worked on television and appeared as IPS Dhanak Parekh in the show Gathbandhan. Later, Shruti was seen in Nazar 2 opposite Sheezan Mohammed. In 2020, Shruti Sharma was seen in Namak Issk Ka, in which she was seen in a double role.

Meanwhile, Sanjay’s magnum opus series has received mixed responses from the audience. Some sections of the audience have criticized the series, especially Sharmin’s performance who is accused to have landed the role just because of nepotism. Recently, Sharmin even had to disable her comments on Instagram due to excessive trolling.
