Samikssha Bhatnagar says Shruti Ahuja’s strength and emotional depth drew her to the role in the popular Star Plus show ‘Anupamaa’

Actress Samikssha Batnagar has opened up about her experience of being part of the popular television show “Anupamaa.” In an exclusive interview with IANS, she revealed that the strength of her character, Shruti Ahuja, was one of the key reasons she was drawn to the role. “When I get an offer, whether it is a film, a character, or a television show, it is very important for me to understand what I can bring to that character.
As an actor, what contribution can I make to it?” she said. Talking about joining “Anupamaa,” the actress said the show's popularity and the opportunity to work with DKP Productions were among the factors that attracted her to the project. “Anupamaa was already a very popular show. People love it immensely. The most important thing for me was that when I got the opportunity to work with DKP Productions, I really wanted to work with them.” Samikssha added that she was particularly drawn to Shruti Ahuja after understanding the character's personality and emotional depth.

“Fortunately, I got to play a very interesting character, Shruti Ahuja, in Anupamaa. As soon as I understood the character, I felt that it had strength and that it suited my personality. That convinced me to accept the role quickly. Thankfully, people have also been loving it.” The actress also spoke about the challenges of portraying Shruti. According to Samiksha, every character comes with its own set of challenges, and Shruti was no exception. “She is a mother who has to justify herself for her daughter.
She loves her daughter, but at the same time, she is not a negative character, and I did not want people to perceive her that way,” she said. “She is essentially a positive character. As a mother, she has certain emotions and feelings towards Anupama. Every character brings a challenge, and I believe it is an actor's responsibility to justify that character on screen,” she added. Samikssha Bhatnagar joined “Anupamaa” in April 2026. She replaced Sukirti Kandpal as Shruti Ahuja in the popular Star Plus show. Produced by Rajan Shahi, the daily soap stars Rupali Ganguly in the lead role.
