Father of Bollywood actress Malaika Arora, Anil Kudlip Mehta, who allegedly committed suicide on Sep 11, made a final phone call to his daughter, saying, "I'm sick and tired," according to sources cited by the media.
Malaika, who was not in Mumbai at the time, posted a statement on Instagram hours later expressing the family's deep sorrow over their father's death.

"We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear father, Anil Mehta. He was a gentle soul, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband, and our best friend,” the statement read.
“Our family is in deep shock over this loss, and we kindly request privacy from the media and well-wishers during this difficult time. We appreciate your understanding, support, and respect," it added.
Mehta, 65, died on September 11 morning by falling from the sixth-floor balcony of his Bandra home. Mehta's ex-wife, Joyce Polycarp, was in their flat in Ayesha Manor in Bandra when the incident occurred.
She remembered spotting her husband's slippers in the living room at 9 am, which prompted her to search for him. Unable to find him, she looked over the balcony railing and saw a security guard screaming for help.
"That was when I realized something was terribly wrong," she told the police.
