Bollywood superstars like Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan, and Amitabh Bachchan have done well-known pan masala advertisements for which these actors were heavily criticized.
Bollywood star Anil Kapoor has recently turned down an offer for a pan masala endorsement deal worth ₹10 crore because he felt that he had a responsibility towards the audience.
According to a source close to the actor, “Anil Kapoor was approached by a major pan masala company with a tempting offer. However, he was quick to decline.”
“He believes he has a responsibility towards his fans and the wider audience and feels strongly about not endorsing products that could potentially harm public health, regardless of the monetary compensation,” the source added.
Kapoor has grown more conscious of the projects he chooses to partner with over the years. The actor has always advocated for healthy living and eating, and he is portrayed as prioritizing his morals before material success.
He carefully chooses the products that he promotes, making sure they align with his public persona and personal vision. Celebrities like John Abraham and Kartik Aaryan have also declined to promote tobacco products in recent years.
