The meeting between officials from Johns Hopkins University and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan covered a range of topics, including faculty and student exchange programs, dual and combined degrees, and research collaborations in areas such as data science, AI, and emerging technologies.
Officials from Johns Hopkins University (JHU) in the United States met with Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Nov 17 to discuss the potential establishment of a JHU campus in India.
The meeting also included talks on possible academic and research partnerships.
"Given the keen interest expressed by the high-level delegation, the government is hopeful of a positive outcome soon," said an education ministry source.
The discussions covered a range of topics, including faculty and student exchange programs, dual and combined degrees, and research collaborations in areas such as data science, AI, and emerging technologies.
The 12-member delegation, led by JHU President Ronald J. Daniels, also included representatives from the Gupta-Klinsky India Institute (GKII), a JHU unit focused on collaborations with Indian partners.
Minister Pradhan highlighted the opportunities created by India's National Education Policy 2020 during the conference.
JHU is renowned for its contributions to research, medicine, and education and is frequently ranked among the top universities worldwide. The university currently operates two campuses outside the United States: one in Nanjing of China, and another in Italy’s Bologna.
As part of their ongoing multi-city visit to India, the delegation will tour university campuses and meet with academic and government officials.
