The commission has delayed the 2026 Civil Services and Indian Forest Service exam notifications, leaving aspirants waiting for revised dates, application timelines, and detailed vacancy information.

The Union Public Service Commission has deferred the release of notifications for the Civil Services Examination 2026 and the Indian Forest Service Examination 2026, which were earlier slated for Jan 14, 2026.
The commission cited administrative reasons for the postponement and said candidates will be informed once the notices are ready.

The delay has extended the wait for thousands of aspirants seeking clarity on application timelines and examination schedules for the two flagship recruitment exams.
In a statement issued on its official website, the UPSC said, “The notification of Civil Services Examination, 2026 and Indian Forest Service Examination, 2026, scheduled to be notified on 14.01.2026, has now been postponed due to administrative reasons and the same will be notified in due course.”
While the commission did not provide specific details, officials indicated that the postponement is linked to internal administrative formalities that are still being finalized.
According to the UPSC Exam Calendar 2026 released earlier, the Civil Services Preliminary Examination was tentatively scheduled to be held between May 24 and May 31, 2026, with the online application process expected to begin soon after the notification.
With the notification now postponed, the registration timeline and other examination-related milestones may be revised.
Aspirants will now have to wait for the commission to announce a new notification date, the opening of the application window, and any changes to the exam schedule.
The UPSC has advised candidates to monitor only official announcements on its website and avoid relying on unofficial information.
