UGC releases list of universities offering online courses; last date of application is March 31

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has released a list of Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) recognized to offer Open and Distance Learning (ODL) programs for academic year 2023-24 (academic session beginning February, 2024), according to an official notice.

The UGC had earlier invited online applications from the eligible Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) as per Regulation 3(A) and Regulation 3(B)(b) of UGC (open and distance learning programs and online programs) regulations, 2020 and its amendments for recognition of programs under Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode, it said.

On the basis of the online applications, UGC has now released a list of HEIs recognized to offer Open and Distance Learning (ODL) programs for academic year 2023-24.

Last date of admission in ODL and Online programs for academic session February, 2024 academic session 31st March, 2024 and the last date to upload the student admission details on UGC-DEB web portal is 15th April, 2O24.

Meanwhile, the UGC also laid down precautions to be taken by the students before enrolling in Programs offered under Open & Distance Learning (ODL) and/or Online Learning (OL) mode.

“Students must confirm the recognition status of HEI for offering ODL and Online education for the session opted for admission on UGC DEB website, check the details on the HEls website, take note of prohibited programs and prohibition of franchising arrangement and ensure that all activities are being conducted within Territorial Jurisdiction for ODL Programs,” it said.

“The Higher Educational Institution shall also adhere to the policy of Territorial Jurisdiction and learner Support Centers (LSC) as specified in Annexure III and VIII of University Grants Commission (Open and Distance learning Programs and Online Programs) Regulations, 2O2O and its amendments,” the  notification read.
