SSC revises disability certificate formats, restores own scribe facility for candidates

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced updates to disability certificate formats and exam facilities, aiming to simplify processes and enhance accessibility for candidates with disabilities.

Under the revised system, SSC will now use two forms instead of three.

Form 5 will be applicable for candidates with a single disability, while Form 6 is designated for those with multiple disabilities.

These replace the earlier Forms 5, 6, and 7 referenced in SSC notifications, streamlining verification and creating uniformity across exams.

The official notice states that candidates applying for exams notified after Oct 16, 2024, whose recruitment processes are ongoing, may submit disability certificates in either the updated forms or the previous versions, allowing flexibility during the transition.

In another key change, the ‘own scribe’ facility has been restored for candidates with benchmark disabilities (PwBD) for examinations notified on or before Dec 31.

SSC clarified that scribes must meet specific age requirements depending on the exam level.

For matriculation and Class 12-level papers, scribes should not exceed 20 years, while for graduate-level exams, the age limit is 22.

Aadhaar-based verification is mandatory for all scribes. Candidates unable to complete verification at the exam center must either use a Commission-provided scribe or attempt the paper independently.

SSC has also introduced a self-slot selection feature for candidates appearing in the 2025 Junior Engineer (JE) and Sub-Inspector (SI) in Delhi Police and CAPF examinations (Paper-I).

The slot selection window for the SI exam will remain open until Nov 21 at 11 pm.

According to the SSC calendar, the Junior Engineer (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) Examination 2025 (Paper-I) is scheduled from Dec 3 to 6, while the Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and CAPF Examination 2025 (Paper-I) will take place from Dec 9 to 12.
