QS Global MBA Rankings 2027: IIM Bangalore leads Indian B-schools at 64th globally

The rankings assess more than 400 full-time MBA programs across 65 countries and territories, measuring employability, return on investment, entrepreneurship, thought leadership and diversity.

QS Global MBA Rankings 2027: IIM Bangalore leads Indian B-schools at 64th globally

The QS Global MBA Rankings 2027 have placed IIM Bangalore, IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Calcutta among the world's top 100 MBA programs, with all three Indian institutes recording lower positions than last year.

IIM Bangalore is the highest-ranked Indian business school at joint 64th globally, down from 52nd in the previous edition. IIM Ahmedabad stands at joint 70th, compared with 58th last year, while IIM Calcutta fell to 95th from 64th, marking the largest decline among the three.

No Indian business school has entered the global top 50 in the QS Global MBA Rankings 2027.

The QS Global MBA Rankings 2027 were released on Sept 16, 2026, covering more than 400 full-time MBA programs across 65 countries and territories. QS evaluates programs on employability, return on investment, entrepreneurship and alumni outcomes, thought leadership and diversity.

QS said Indian business schools faced increased competition from international peers, particularly across Return on Investment, Entrepreneurship & Alumni Outcomes and Diversity. At the same time, 10 Indian entries improved their performance on the Thought Leadership lens.

IIM Bangalore remains India's highest-ranked MBA provider for the fourth consecutive year. It retained its 29th position globally for employability and ranked second in Asia on the indicator.

The institute also recorded a slight improvement in Thought Leadership, securing 51st place globally.

IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Calcutta remain within the global top 100. Both institutions rank among the top 40 worldwide for employability and within the top 100 for Thought Leadership.

IIM Ahmedabad is the only Indian entry among the global top 100 for Entrepreneurship & Alumni Outcomes, where it ranks 84th.

19 Indian institutions feature in QS Global MBA Rankings

A total of 19 Indian institutions are included in the QS Global Full-Time MBA Rankings 2027. This is an increase from seven Indian entries in 2022 and five in 2020.

Five Indian institutions have entered the ranking for the first time this year. OP Jindal Global University (JGU) is the highest-ranked new Indian entrant, placed in the 171-180 band.

The other new entrants are Jaipuria Institute of Management, School of Business and Management at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), School of Leadership and Management at Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies, and Vikrant University Gwalior. All four are placed in the 301+ category.

Across the broader QS Global MBA and Business Master's Rankings, India has 28 entries, making it the fourth most represented country after the US, UK and France.

Woxsen School of Business, which is placed in the 251-300 band globally, recorded the strongest Indian performance on the Diversity lens. It ranks first in Asia and 33rd globally for diversity.

QS Global MBA Rankings 2027: World top 10

The US occupies the top four positions in the QS Global MBA Rankings 2027. MIT Sloan School of Management secured the No 1 position for the first time, followed by Harvard Business School, Stanford Graduate School of Business and the Wharton School.

MIT Sloan moved from third place in the 2026 ranking to first this year. Penn Wharton, which topped the 2026 ranking, dropped to fourth. Harvard retained second place, while Stanford moved from fourth to third.

Asia's highest-ranked MBA provider is the National University of Singapore Business School, which retained 23rd place globally. Tsinghua University ranks second in Asia and 29th globally, followed by Singapore Management University at 41st.

IIM Bangalore and IIM Ahmedabad are the eighth- and ninth-highest-ranked MBA institutions in Asia, respectively.

QS Global MBA Rankings 2027 methodology

The QS 2027 ranking covers more than 420 MBA programs across 65 countries and territories. It evaluates programs across five broad areas: employability, value for money, alumni outcomes, thought leadership and diversity.

Employability carries the highest weighting at 40%, followed by value for money at 20%. Alumni outcomes and Thought Leadership each account for 15%, while diversity carries a 10% weighting.

Specialized Business Master's rankings

The specialized Business Master's rankings include 41 Indian entries across management, business analytics, finance, marketing and supply chain management.

IIM Bangalore ranks 31st globally for Master's in Management and 60th for Business Analytics. IIM Ahmedabad ranks 46th globally for Management.

IIM Calcutta is ranked 57th for Management and 96th for Business Analytics.

At the global level, HEC Paris leads the Master's in Management, Finance and Marketing rankings. MIT Sloan tops the Business Analytics ranking, while the MIT Center for Transportation & Logistics ranks first for Supply Chain Management.
