Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sudhir Kumar Jain, BHU
VARANASI, 02.02.2023: Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sudhir Kumar Jain has said that the Union Budget 2023-24 will help realize the objectives defined in the National Education Policy 2020. The new education policy lays a greater focus on skilling the youth of the country and linking education with industry and professional spheres, so as to enable students to be ready for future challenges and opportunities. The budget announcements have come as a boost to materialize these ideas, said Prof. Jain. Hailing the increase in the allocation for the education sector, the Vice-Chancellor said that the move will give a further impetus to quality research and education.
Union Finance Minister, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman has proposed 30 Skill India Centers across the country to skill youth for international opportunities. She also announced that emphasis will be given on industry partnerships, on job training, and alignment of courses with needs of industry. Besides, initiatives to cover new age courses for industry like coding, AI, robotics, mechatronics, 3D printing, drones and soft skills, have also been announced. The Vice-Chancellor said, “The world is rapidly changing and so are the expectations and requirements of the industry and the society. We must have transformational initiatives in the education sector that meet these expectations. I am happy to note these measures being announced in the budget”. He also lauded the announcement of setting up the National Digital Library for Children and Adolescents to facilitate availability of quality books across geographies. This is going to be a game-changer as availability of quality content for a large population continues to be a challenge before institutions and educational organizations, added the Vice-Chancellor.
