The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2024 retest held on June 23 got mixed responses from candidates, as only 813 of the 1,563 applicants who received grace marks showed up for the retest.
In response to allegations of exam irregularities, 7 centers in six cities scheduled the NEET-UG retest for 1,563 candidates. 48% of the students did not show up for the retest.

"Only 52% of a total of 1,563 candidates gave a retest on June 23. Attendance was 813 total," the National Testing Agency (NTA) said.
The NTA reported that 287 out of 494 candidates took the retest in two centers in Jajjar, Haryana, with an attendance rate of 58.09%.
In Balod of Chhattigarh, 115 out of 185 candidates showed up for the retest. Neither of the two students who were supposed to take the NEET-UG retest in Chandigarh turned up at the exam center. Out of the 464 eligible students, 234 took the test in Meghalaya. One candidate in Gujarat had a retest.
63 applicants nationwide were prohibited from taking the NEET-UG 2024 retest due to misconduct.
“17 candidates from Bihar and 30 candidates from Godhra centers have been debarred for malpractices during the NEET examination,” the NTA said.
The NTA asserted that all of its web portals, including its website, are completely safe amid allegations of irregularities in the conduct of entrance exams. Additionally, it rejected claims that the portals had been compromised, calling them "misleading and wrong."
Officials from the Ministry of Education and the NTA were also present at the examination centers.
The NEET-UG 2024 retest results will be announced on June 30.
The NTA had previously withdrawn the compensatory marks awarded to these candidates in accordance with the Supreme Court's order for the time lost due to a delay in the start of the examination at six locations around the nation, following accusations of malpractice and paper leaks.
The NTA-established committee made the decision to invalidate the scorecards of these 1,563 students and provided them with the choice to retake the exam. The re-examination was scheduled for June 23.
Several national entrance exams have encountered issues to date. The National Eligibility Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET-PG) exam 2024 is postponed by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The government stated that the new dates would be revealed shortly and that the decision was made with the best interests of the students and the integrity of the examination in mind.
Due to suspicions of a paper leak, the University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) 2024 exam was also canceled on June 19, the day after it took place. Additionally, the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (CSIR UGC-NET) has been postponed.
