NEET-PG 2026 held across India, 2,445 candidates in Jaipur to appear for re-exam on Sep 5

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET-PG) 2026 was conducted across the country on Aug 30, with 2,65,980 candidates appearing for the examination, while 2,445 candidates at two centres in Jaipur will have to take the test again on Sep 5 following a power supply disruption.

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) had scheduled the examination for 2,73,096 registered candidates at 1,111 centres spread across 339 cities in all 36 states and Union Territories.

According to NBEMS, around 2,63,535 candidates were able to complete the examination. The examination was conducted from 9 am to noon.

The disruption occurred at two examination centres in Jaipur's Sitapura area, where the examination could not be completed for 2,445 candidates because of an internal power supply failure.

The two affected centres were iON Digital Zone iDZ, Sitapura, identified as test centre numbers 41,682 and 41,683.

NBEMS announced that the affected candidates will be given another opportunity to take the examination. The re-examination will be held in Jaipur on Sep 5 in the second half, with the test scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.

NBEMS expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to the affected candidates and said arrangements were being made to ensure that they receive a fair and equitable opportunity. Details regarding the venue and other examination-related instructions will be communicated to the candidates.

Reports said candidates at the affected centres staged a protest following the disruption. Some candidates also raised allegations of technical and server-related problems during the examination process.

NBEMS, however, attributed the failure that prevented the examination from being completed to the power supply issue at the two centres.

The examination was conducted with security and monitoring arrangements across the country. NBEMS said 2,527 faculty members were appointed as Independent Appraisers to oversee the examination.

More than 700 senior faculty members, including Deans, Directors, Medical Superintendents and senior professors, were deployed as Flying Squad members.

Sixteen NBEMS Regional Command Centres were also operational across the country for coordination and monitoring.

The examination centres were placed under live CCTV surveillance, with feeds monitored from the NBEMS Command Centre at its headquarters in Dwarka. A team of 190 personnel from NBEMS and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) was deployed for real-time surveillance and monitoring.

The examination was conducted by NBEMS, with TCS Ltd. serving as the examination conducting agency.

NEET-PG is conducted for admission to postgraduate medical courses. The 2026 examination was held at centres across the country, with the large-scale exercise involving examination authorities, medical institutions, faculty members, security agencies, technology teams and other stakeholders.

NBEMS thanked candidates for their cooperation and patience during the examination and acknowledged the institutions and personnel involved in its conduct.

The re-examination on Sep 5 will be limited to the 2,445 candidates whose examination could not be completed at the two Jaipur centres.
