The financial aid was provided through four welfare schemes, benefiting over 29,000 students across colleges and departments, with applications submitted via an online portal for transparency and ease.
The University of Mumbai has provided ₹2.74 crore in financial aid to economically weaker and socially marginalized students for the academic year 2024-25, marking the highest annual disbursal under its welfare schemes, the university announced.
The funds were distributed through four welfare programs managed by the university’s Department of Student Development, benefiting students across affiliated colleges, recognized institutions, and university departments.
“This initiative is a commendable step to support the educational journey of financially and socially disadvantaged students studying at Mumbai University. Every year, the university allocates a substantial budget to ensure that more students benefit from these schemes,” said Prof Ravindra Kulkarni, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mumbai.

Applications were submitted online through a dedicated portal designed by the Department of Student Development to ensure transparency and efficiency in distribution.

The admission process is being conducted through a statewide online Centralized Admission Process (CAP) available at mahafyjcadmissions.in.
The provisional general merit list will be published on June 5, followed by a correction window from June 6 to June 7.
The final merit list will be announced on June 8, with quota-based admissions scheduled from June 9 to June 11. The college allotment list will be released on June 10.
Students must complete document submission and admission confirmation between June 11 and June 18 to finalize their seats at junior colleges across Maharashtra.
