Internshala, a leading career-tech platform, on August 30 celebrated the top higher education institutions (HEIs) in India for their exceptional internship placement records during the "Internship Day 2024" event.
The initiative, which brought together over 1,100 institutions nationwide, honored colleges that have excelled in securing internships for their students, helping them bridge the gap between academic theory and professional practice.
Among the recognized institutions, Paavai Engineering College in Namakkal, Tamil Nadu; Parul Polytechnic Institute in Vadodara, Gujarat; and St. Xavier's College in Kolkata stood out for their outstanding performance in placing students in internships at top companies such as ClearTax, Swiggy, HDFC Ergo, and Zomato.
The event, attended by AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) Chairman Prof. T. G. Sitharam, underscored the critical role of internships in today's job market.
Prof. Sitharam emphasized that internships are essential in providing students with real-world experience and the skills necessary to thrive in an increasingly competitive workforce.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Sitharam emphasized the vital role of internships in bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. He stated, “Internships are not merely stepping stones into the corporate world. They are essential in providing experiential learning and helping students build a professional network. As technology continues to evolve rapidly, internships will be crucial in developing a skilled and intelligent workforce not just for India, but for the global market.”
Sarvesh Agrawal, Founder and CEO of Internshala, highlighted the importance of college training and placement cells in shaping students' career paths, reaffirming Internshala's commitment to supporting institutions in promoting internships as a vital part of education.
“Over the years, our collaboration with training and placement officers across India has shown us how crucial colleges are in shaping a student’s future. Internship Day is our annual initiative to encourage institutions to actively promote internships as a gateway to professional success. We are committed to supporting colleges in spreading awareness about the transformative potential of internships,” Agrawal said.
