The Indian Institute of Technology Madras has opened applications for its BS undergraduate programs for the 2026 to 2027 academic session, with admissions to be conducted through the IISER Aptitude Test 2026.
The registration process began on April 6, 2026, at 10:00 AM and will close on June 5, 2026, at 5:00 PM. Candidates must complete the application process online and make payments through net banking, credit card, debit card, or UPI.

The institute is offering BS programs in Medical Sciences and Engineering, and Chemistry. The Medical Sciences and Engineering program emphasizes interdisciplinary learning across healthcare, engineering, and research, while the Chemistry program provides an option for students to upgrade to an MS degree. Both programs focus on combining core scientific concepts with research-based training.

Admissions will be based on performance in IAT 2026, and applicants are required to register for the test before submitting their program application. Additional admission channels through SEA and FACE will be announced later.
To be eligible, candidates must qualify in IAT 2026, be Indian nationals or OCI or PIO card holders with cards issued before March 4, 2021, and meet Class 12 academic requirements. Applicants must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination in 2024, 2025, or 2026 from a recognized board under COBSE.
For Medical Sciences and Engineering, Mathematics and any two subjects among Biology, Chemistry, and Physics are required. For the Chemistry program, candidates must have studied Chemistry along with two subjects from Biology, Mathematics, and Physics.

Applicants must secure at least 60% marks for the general category and 55% for SC, ST, and PWD categories.
The application fee is ₹500 for SC, ST, PWD, and female candidates and ₹1000 for other applicants. Only one application per candidate is permitted.
Candidates are required to upload photographs, signatures, and documents as per specified guidelines. After successful submission, they can download the acknowledgment page and application form for future reference.
The total intake is 36 seats for Medical Sciences and Engineering and 50 seats for Chemistry, distributed across categories including OPEN, GEN EWS, OBC NCL, SC, and ST, with provisions for gender balance.
