Students from Classes 6 to 12 can take part in the national quiz on Solid Waste Management Rules 2026 from September 17 to October 17 through the Eco Clubs for Mission LiFE portal.

The Ministry of Education has launched a national-level quiz on solid waste management for students of Classes 6 to 12 as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign.
The quiz is being conducted through the Eco Clubs for Mission LiFE portal and will focus on the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026. Students can participate between Sep 17 and Oct 17, according to the Department of School Education and Literacy.

Who can participate?
The quiz is open to students studying in Classes 6 to 12. The ministry has also made learning material available through the Eco Clubs for Mission LiFE platform to help students understand solid waste management and the new rules.
Students taking the quiz are required to provide their name, class, age and school's UDISE code. The official portal states that the quiz has 10 questions, and students scoring three or more can receive a participation certificate.
What will students learn?
The initiative is designed to familiarise students with waste segregation, recycling, reuse and safe disposal practices.
The official learning material also explains the four categories of waste that need to be separated at source under the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026 — wet, dry, sanitary and special care waste.
The ministry said the initiative is intended to help students understand responsible waste management and develop environmentally responsible habits.
Quiz part of Swachhata Hi Seva 2026
The quiz was announced during a national webinar on solid and e-waste management organised by the Department of School Education and Literacy on September 16.
The webinar was held ahead of Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 and Special Campaign 6.0. The ministry said the programme aims to use school-based activities and Eco Clubs to promote awareness about waste segregation, recycling, reuse and responsible disposal.
The ministry also said that around one lakh school students had collected more than 4,000 kg of e-waste across 10 cities in four states and one Union Territory during Special Campaign 5.0.
More than 2.6 lakh students, teachers and community members participated in the national webinar through YouTube, according to the ministry.
Students can access the learning material and participate in the quiz through the Eco Clubs for Mission LiFE portal.
