The collaboration introduces personalized, AI-driven features supporting self-paced learning, combining academic excellence with industry experience to enhance online education for aspiring data science professionals across India.
In a move set to advance digital education across India, IIT Madras and Scaler School of Technology have officially partnered to provide AI-powered learning tools for students enrolled in the institute’s online BS in Data Science and Applications.
The tools, developed under the Centre for Outreach and Digital Education (CODE) at IIT Madras, aim to personalize the learning process and offer greater flexibility to students nationwide.
The partnership follows a successful pilot conducted earlier this year, in which 500 students tested the new learning platform.
With the signing of a formal agreement on June 2, 2025, the project is now being expanded for broader use, integrating IIT Madras’ academic rigor with Scaler’s expertise in applied technology education.
Designed to go beyond conventional online coursework, the tools offer interactive coding exercises, instant feedback, interview preparation content, and assistance in understanding complex topics.
These features are intended to support students navigating independent, self-paced learning environments.
A unique aspect of the initiative is the hands-on role played by Scaler’s own students, who contributed to the development of the platform as part of their four-year technology program.
Working closely with engineers, they helped shape features that address the practical challenges learners face in digital classrooms.
Although Scaler’s contributions will be credited, IIT Madras maintains full authority over data management and privacy standards, underlining its focus on secure, learner-first education.
Speaking on the collaboration, Professor Andrew Thangaraj, who heads CODE, said the technology will help deliver quality education at scale while allowing learners to move at their own pace.
Scaler co-founder Abhimanyu Saxena highlighted the practical nature of the collaboration, blending classroom needs with engineering solutions.
This initiative is expected to play a key role in expanding access to high-quality, tech-enabled education, particularly for students pursuing careers in data science.
