The BSc in behavioral sciences and predictive analytics at IIT Jammu equips students with interdisciplinary skills in psychology, data science, and economics to address complex societal and technological challenges.
IIT Jammu has introduced a new four-year undergraduate program in Behavioral Sciences and Predictive Analytics (BSBSPA), aiming to blend the study of human behavior with cutting-edge data analysis techniques.
The program has been developed by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences and is open to candidates eligible for JEE Advanced 2025. Applications can be submitted at iitjammu.ac.in or iitjammu.ac.in/hss.
This interdisciplinary program brings together core concepts from psychology, cognitive science, behavioral economics, and sociology, alongside statistical reasoning, data science, and predictive modeling.
It aims to help students understand human behavior not just at the level of individual experience but as measurable patterns that occur across social environments and systems.
By integrating insights from behavioral sciences, psychology, sociology, and economics with tools from statistics, data analysis, and computational modeling, students will be equipped to decode complex human patterns and contribute to solutions in domains ranging from mental health and education to policy, design, and technology.
In the first two years, students will receive foundational training in subjects such as behavioral sciences, neurosciences, social sciences, humanities, economics, mathematics, computer programming, data science, machine learning, psychology, and cognitive sciences.
During the third and fourth years, students will take advanced and specialization courses in areas such as data science, machine learning, behavioral sciences, business strategy, psychology, economics, humanities and social sciences, and policymaking.
The curriculum also features a semester-long industry internship and a wide selection of electives from across various departments at IIT Jammu.
