The new facility will focus on personalized medicine, AI diagnostics, assistive technology, and affordable medical devices, aiming to accelerate high-impact healthcare innovations from research labs to practical, accessible solutions in India.

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi has launched a Centre of Excellence in precision and personalized healthcare at its Research and Innovation Park in collaboration with the Wadhwani Foundation.
The facility, inaugurated on Aug 13 by Wadhwani Foundation CEO Dr Ajay Kela and IIT Delhi Director Prof Rangan Banerjee, is part of the Wadhwani Innovation Network.

In its first phase, the center will work on personalized medicine, bio-imaging and AI-based diagnostics, assistive technology for the elderly and differently abled, affordable implants and wearables, and advanced diagnostic tools.
"Ultimately, the initiative aims to improve patient outcomes, reduce the burden of disease, and position India as a global leader in healthcare innovation, while setting new benchmarks for quality, affordability, and accessibility in medical technology," an official said.
The project is part of a national program worth over ₹1,400 crore by the Wadhwani Foundation and its partners to set up multiple Centers of Excellence in sectors such as semiconductors, quantum technology, space tech, advanced computing, and healthcare.
The initiative was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Yugm Innovation Conclave on April 29.
