IIT Delhi launches one-year online EV diploma for working professionals

IIT Delhi has introduced a one-year online postgraduate diploma in electric vehicle (EV) technology, aimed at equipping professionals with the expertise needed to support India’s electric mobility goals.

The program will be delivered through the institute’s Centre for Automotive Research and Tribology (CART) and is designed to prepare participants for India’s target of achieving 30% EV adoption by 2030.

The diploma is tailored for engineers, researchers, entrepreneurs, and working professionals seeking to strengthen their knowledge in EV design, manufacturing, charging systems, and policy.

Graduates will be awarded a postgraduate diploma from IIT Delhi and will join its alumni network.

The course follows a blended model that combines online learning with on-campus immersion sessions. These modules will give participants exposure to labs, opportunities for academic interaction, and access to IIT Delhi’s faculty.

According to the institute, the curriculum includes subjects such as battery management, power electronics, powertrain design, charging infrastructure, safety systems, and the application of artificial intelligence in fault diagnostics.

Case studies, simulations, capstone projects, and semester-long research assignments will form an essential part of the course.

“These components will ensure that learning is both rigorous and industry-relevant,” IIT Delhi said.

Classes will be delivered by IIT faculty alongside EV industry experts, with Jaro Education partnering to expand access nationwide.

The program is intended for working professionals who want to upskill without leaving their jobs. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in electrical sciences or an equivalent qualification with industry experience.

Candidates with a diploma in electrical sciences and at least three years of professional experience may also apply.

Selection will be based on academic performance and professional background.

IIT Delhi emphasized that the program is designed to prepare participants for diverse roles in EV design, manufacturing, R&D, charging networks, fleet electrification, and policy development.

By combining engineering fundamentals with industry-oriented projects, the institute said the diploma will build both technical expertise and leadership skills in sustainable mobility.
