The new program, BTech in Design, will combine creativity, technology, and interdisciplinary learning, with admissions based on JEE Advanced and UCEED scores.
Starting from the 2025-26 academic session, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi will introduce a new undergraduate program, BTech in Design.
Offered by the Department of Design, this four-year course aims to merge creativity with technology to address real-world challenges.
According to the institute, the program is tailored for students who are inquisitive, innovative, and eager to transform ideas into impactful solutions.
Admission will be based on candidates' performance in JEE (Advanced), along with qualifying for the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED).
The curriculum will cover a broad spectrum of subjects, including design processes, research methods, socio-technical systems, product design, and systematic problem-solving.
As a transdisciplinary program, it will allow students to take around 50% of their coursework in design and the rest in other fields such as engineering, humanities, and management.
“Students will be trained to use design as a powerful tool to solve challenges in industry and society,” said an official from IIT Delhi.
The institute also emphasized that the course would promote hands-on learning to ensure students graduate as well-rounded professionals capable of combining human-centered design with technological expertise.
Prospective applicants are encouraged to visit the official IIT Delhi website for further details and updates on the admission process.
