The Common Entrance Examination for Design will be held on January 17, 2027, with applications accepted until October 31 without a late fee and until November 6 with an additional charge.

The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay has opened registration for the Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) 2027, the entrance examination used for admission to Master of Design (MDes) and PhD programmes at several participating institutes.
The regular registration window opened on October 1 and will remain open until October 31, 2026. Candidates who miss the regular deadline can submit applications with a late fee until November 6, 2026, at 5 pm.

The CEED 2027 examination is scheduled for January 17, 2027, from 9 am to noon. Admit cards will be available for download from January 1, 2027.
What is CEED 2027?
CEED is conducted by IIT Bombay for candidates seeking admission to postgraduate design programmes. A valid CEED score makes candidates eligible to apply to MDes and PhD programmes at participating institutes, but qualifying the examination does not by itself guarantee admission.
Candidates who qualify must separately apply to the institutes and meet their respective admission requirements, which may include additional tests or interviews.
The CEED score will remain valid for one year from the date of declaration of the result. The CEED 2027 result is scheduled to be declared on March 3, 2027, while scorecards will be available from March 10.
CEED 2027 eligibility
Candidates must have completed a degree, diploma or postgraduate programme of at least three years' duration after Class 12 or its equivalent. Candidates appearing for the final examination of such a programme by July 2027 can also apply.
Candidates who have completed the five-year Government Diploma in Art (GD Art) after Class 10 by July 2027 are also eligible.
What will the CEED exam test?
The examination assesses aptitude in areas relevant to design, including visual perception, drawing, logical reasoning, creativity, communication and problem-solving.
The paper has two parts. Part A is a computer-based screening test, while Part B evaluates design, drawing and writing skills. IIT Bombay's official CEED information states that the final score is calculated using 25% of the Part A marks and 75% of the Part B marks.
The examination will be conducted from 9 am to noon on January 17, 2027. The draft answer key for Part A is scheduled for release on January 19.
CEED registration dates
Candidates can register through the official CEED portal. The regular application window closes at 11:59 pm on Oct 31, while applications with a ₹500 late fee will be accepted until 5 pm on Nov 6.
IIT Bombay has advised candidates to refer to the official information brochure for detailed eligibility requirements, documents, application fees and other examination-related instructions.
