The five month online program, developed by IIT Bombay faculty with industry collaboration, focuses on hands-on training in building, adapting, and deploying generative AI applications for real-world professional use.

IIT Bombay has launched a new online certificate program focused on Generative AI, expanding its professional education offerings in partnership with edtech platform Great Learning.
The Certificate in Generative AI will be offered through the Technocraft Centre for Applied Artificial Intelligence and has been designed by IIT Bombay faculty. Registration for the five-month program is expected to begin in 2026, according to the institute.

The course is structured as a hands-on program aligned with current industry requirements and is aimed at professionals looking to design, customize, and deploy Generative AI applications.
Great Learning said the curriculum is organized into five modules with a strong focus on large language models.
Participants will start with foundational concepts in artificial intelligence and LLMs before progressing to prompt engineering, model customization using private datasets, and the development of copilots and workflow-based applications.
The final phase of the program will address deployment, scalability, and security considerations related to Generative AI solutions.
Learners will work on applied projects intended to simulate real-world use cases and enterprise-level implementations.
Prof Manjesh K Hanawal of IIT Bombay said Generative AI is reshaping how people create, learn, and organize work and added that as the technology moves beyond experimentation, professionals must understand how to apply it responsibly.
He said the program reflects IIT Bombay’s emphasis on combining strong conceptual foundations with practical application, from core AI principles to real-world GenAI adoption.
According to him, the training is designed to help learners select appropriate models and build reliable solutions, enabling them to use AI more confidently in decision-making and productivity-driven roles.
Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a Certificate of Completion issued by IIT Bombay.
The program is aimed at software engineers, data scientists, analysts, product managers, technology professionals, STEM graduates, and others seeking to integrate Generative AI systems into professional and organizational workflows.
