The executive course, accredited by FPSB India, blends academic training with practical market exposure and offers participants a potential fast-track pathway to global financial planning certification.

IIM Bangalore has introduced a new executive certificate focused on personal finance and wealth advisory, expanding its offerings in professional financial education.
The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore said it has launched the Certificate Programme on Personal Finance and Wealth Advisory in partnership with FPSB India, the Indian arm of the global Financial Planning Standards Board.

The program will be delivered through IIMB’s Centre for Capital Markets and Risk Management as part of its Executive Education portfolio.
The institute said the program has received formal accreditation from FPSB India and that registrations are currently open. Classes are scheduled to begin in March 2026.
According to IIM Bangalore, the program is aimed at meeting rising demand for structured and credible training in personal finance and wealth advisory, as retail participation in financial markets increases and financial products become more complex.
The curriculum blends academic instruction with practical application, covering subjects such as microeconomics, business decision-making, and modern financial advisory frameworks.
Participants will also work with market tools and data platforms, including Bloomberg datasets, to gain exposure to real-world financial analysis and client advisory scenarios.
Senior program directors from IIM Bangalore, members of the Council of Financial Planners, and representatives from FPSB India attended the program launch, during which FPSB India announced its accreditation.
Dr Aishwarya Krishna, Research Consultant at CCMRM, said the program has been structured to respond to changing industry needs.
“The program has been structured to align academic rigor with evolving industry requirements, particularly in a financial landscape shaped by regulatory changes, market volatility, and rising demand for professional advice,” she said.
Participants who complete the program will be granted IIM Bangalore Executive Education Program alumni status.
The institute said successful candidates may also qualify for a fast-track pathway to the globally recognized CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER certification, subject to FPSB India’s eligibility criteria.
FPSB India said the collaboration aligns with its strategy of working with leading academic institutions to strengthen financial planning education in the country.
Citing its 2023 research on the value of financial planning, the organization said CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professionals often see growth in client base and income potential, particularly in the early years after certification.
With more Indian households seeking professional support for savings, investments, and long-term financial planning, demand for trained and ethically grounded advisors has risen.
Institutions and industry bodies increasingly view programs that combine academic depth with global standards as key to building trust and professionalizing the sector.
