Govt to publish details of non-selected SSC candidates to aid recruitments

The Government of India has decided to release the scores and details of candidates who appeared in the final stage of Staff Selection Commission (SSC) exams but were not selected for appointment.

The move is aimed at helping other recruiting bodies, such as Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and autonomous institutions, access a broader talent pool for available positions.

The Staff Selection Commission, under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, will publish the information on its official website in roll number order.

The data will later be connected to a central portal being developed by the government.

As per an official notification from the SSC headquarters in New Delhi, the following details will be made public for non-recommended candidates who consent to the disclosure scheme:

  • Name
  • Father’s or husband’s name
  • Date of birth
  • Category (GEN/SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PH/Minority)
  • Gender
  • Educational qualifications
  • Total marks obtained
  • Rank used in merit list
  • Complete address
  • Email address

Candidates can opt out of the disclosure scheme while submitting their application forms.

Only the details of those who consent will be published, and the information will be made public only after the final results of the respective examination are declared.

The data will remain available for one year from the date of publication.

The disclosure policy will apply to final results declared from November 2024 onward.

It excludes Selection Posts Examinations and will be limited to up to twice the number of advertised vacancies for each exam.

According to the official statement, “This initiative will support other recruiting organizations such as Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and autonomous bodies in identifying potential candidates for suitable vacancies.”

The SSC has also advised candidates to retain their application forms and other exam-related documents for three years, in accordance with the Department of Personnel and Training’s Office Memorandum dated June 21, 2016.

While the SSC will facilitate the publication of candidate data, it clarified that it will not verify the accuracy of the information.

The responsibility for verifying candidate details during any future recruitment process lies entirely with the hiring agencies.
