Narayana Business School

From the past few years, especially after 2020, our team at Narayana Business School has noticed something common in almost every Industry-academia meet. Industry-Academia meets are designed to discuss everything latest in the industry and the academic sector inviting high profile prominent and well-established group of experts. Being a prominent name in higher education and representing the academia sector, it is our duty to listen to the expectations and demands of the industry experts to make students of NBS industry ready.

The most common notion we chalked out was the notion that the industry did not want to train their freshers anymore as they do in probation period. They now, wanted human capital that is trained, confident and ready to be deployed since day one. When asked why, the industry responded with “we don’t want to hire from campus, then take 3 months to train them, make them familiar with tech and then deploy work. If they are pre-trained, we can use those 3 months to further upgrade the skills and achieve maximum output”

We noticed it, and for us, it wasn’t something new. We at NBS are always poised to make our students industry ready since day one and much before the actual placements begin. Because we know, a trained and confident student, will go much higher in career, earn better and achieve the maximum out of their MBA and PGDM program at NBS.

Signature frameworks like Narayana Employability Enhancement Program (NEEP) and 3-layer mentorship are in place and we took a step further with our most recent initiative themed: HR Connect: From Campus To Corporate.

The event was designed to prepare students ahead of internships and pre-placement processes by giving them direct exposure to the expectations of corporate recruiters.

For the session, HR leaders and talent acquisition professionals from a range of organisations visited the campus and conducted mock personal interviews with students. These interactions simulated real recruitment situations, allowing students to experience the pressures and expectations of professional interviews.

More importantly, students received immediate and practical feedback from the visiting HR professionals on their communication, clarity of thought, body language, and approach to answering questions. For many students, the experience became an important moment of learning, helping them understand how recruiters evaluate candidates beyond academic performance. The initiative also reflected our focus on combining technology with mentorship. Students at Narayana Business School have access to an AI Coach, a platform that allows them to seek guidance on internships, interviews, and career preparation in real time.

Through HR Connect, students could complement this digital guidance with direct interaction with industry professionals. The event is part of the larger Narayana Employability Enhancement Program (NEEP) followed at the Narayana Business School. The program is designed to prepare students for careers from the very beginning of their management education through structured career preparation, resume building, interview practice, and continuous industry interaction.

Alongside NEEP, Narayana Business School also follows a three-layer mentorship model, where students receive guidance from faculty mentors, industry professionals, and alumni. This layered support system helps students understand academic concepts, gain industry insights, and learn from professionals who have already navigated the corporate world.

Faculty members also benefited from the interaction, gaining insights into evolving hiring practices and industry requirements, ensuring that classroom learning remains aligned with real-world expectations.

The successful organisation of the initiative was made possible through the efforts of the NBS placement team, faculty mentors, and the student placement committee, who worked together to facilitate interactions between students and industry professionals.

For us at NBS Ahmedabad, the goal has always been the same, our student should not just graduate with a degree in hand, with the help of our specialized programs, AI learning and industry-ready frameworks, they should be pre-trained and ready for industry right from the beginning.
