The decision follows a 2023 statute amendment allowing reappointment, while the university has also begun Phase II of undergraduate admissions through the CSAS portal.

Delhi University Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh has been reappointed for a second term, becoming the first person to continue in the university's top post through reappointment after a change in the institution's statutes.
An official from the Ministry of Education confirmed the decision, saying, “President of India re-appoints Professor Yogesh Singh as the Vice Chancellor of University of Delhi.”

Singh, who first assumed office in 2021, is the first Delhi University vice chancellor to receive a second term.
His reappointment was made possible after the central government amended the university's statutes in 2023, reviving a proposal that had remained pending for nearly a decade.
Before the amendment, the Delhi University Act did not permit the vice chancellor to be reappointed for another term.
Separately, Delhi University has opened Phase II of undergraduate admissions through its Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) portal, allowing registered applicants to submit their preferred colleges and academic programs.
Candidates who completed Phase I registration can fill and edit their preferences until 11:59 p.m. on July 11. The university will publish the first CSAS seat allocation list at 5 p.m. on July 16.
Students allotted seats in the first round must confirm their acceptance between July 16 and July 18. Colleges will complete verification and approval of applications by July 20, while the deadline to pay admission fees for the first round is July 21.
Delhi University Dean of Admissions Haneet Gandhi said candidates will use the current phase to select their preferred colleges and programs.
