The course will be offered under the Faculty of Arts and aligns with the postgraduate curriculum framework; a corresponding English-medium program is expected to launch in 2026–27.
Delhi University is set to introduce a new master’s degree in Hindi Journalism from the 2025–26 academic session, following approval by the university’s Standing Committee on Academic Matters (SCOAM).
The decision was part of a broader meeting to review and approve curricula for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
Among the key developments, the committee gave the green light to the MA in Hindi Journalism under the Hindi department.
“A corresponding master’s program in journalism in English medium, under the English department, is scheduled to begin from the 2026–27 academic session,” said committee member Ram Kishore Yadav.
The proposal for the Hindi Journalism course will now be forwarded to the academic council for final approval before implementation.
The new program, housed under the Faculty of Arts, has been structured according to the Postgraduate Curriculum Framework (PGCF).
SCOAM has held three earlier meetings this month—on May 2, 6, and 8—to finalize several syllabus revisions.
Many of these changes have already been endorsed by the academic and executive councils, though some faced dissent.
In its latest session, the committee approved fourth-year syllabi for undergraduate departments, including BA Education, BA (Programme and Honours) Hindustani Music, and Geography.
All UG syllabi reviewed were aligned with the Undergraduate Curriculum Framework (UGCF).
Postgraduate syllabi from departments such as philosophy, economics, geography, sociology, political science, and mathematics were also reviewed under the PGCF.
“Most syllabi were approved without significant changes,” Yadav added.
