Delhi to revamp school education with AI, robotics, and smart boards

Delhi is set to modernize its school education system with the introduction of artificial intelligence, smart boards, and robotics in classrooms.

The announcement came during a recent visit by Ashish Sood, education minister of Delhi, to a government-run school in Surat, Gujarat, where he reviewed technological upgrades implemented under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

"We aim to bring these advanced tools to Delhi’s classrooms to improve learning outcomes and give our students early exposure to cutting-edge technologies," said Sood.

During his visit, Sood interacted with students and observed teaching sessions using smart boards.

He also toured the school’s AI and Robotics Lab, where students showcased hands-on projects involving drones, 3D printing, and advanced sensor-based security systems.

Sood pointed out the stark contrast between Delhi and Gujarat in terms of technological integration in schools.

"Despite being the national capital and resource-rich, Delhi has only a few hundred smart boards in government schools, while Gujarat has built more than 1.1 lakh smart classrooms, even in districts affected by frequent floods," he said.

He emphasized that Gujarat’s success demonstrates how a committed approach can drive innovation in education, even under challenging circumstances.

"The reforms in Gujarat’s state-run schools are commendable, and other states should take inspiration from them," Sood added.

The visit was part of a broader effort to study the implementation of NEP 2020 and to explore best practices from across India.

Sood reiterated the importance of equipping students with future-ready skills through the use of modern educational tools.

By drawing lessons from Gujarat’s model, Delhi plans to accelerate the adoption of technology in classrooms, aiming to better prepare students for the evolving demands of the global workforce.
