Plans to increase work-from-home (WFH) opportunities have been announced by the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, with a focus on women professionals in the state.
The Andhra Pradesh IT & Global Capability Centers (GCC) Policy 4.0 aims to both facilitate job growth and draw in leading IT companies.
The policy's encouragement of businesses to offer WFH options more widely is one of its main features. Promoting work-life balance for female professionals is the goal of this action.
Assure equitable access to opportunities for advancement in the fields of science and technology.
Make it easier for women with family responsibilities to find work.

• There are formal regulations governing remote work in some countries, but India lacks such laws.
• Employers use internal employment contracts to set expectations for work hours.
• However, in some circumstances—such as maternity leave or positions that allow remote work—the government has promoted WFH.
• Many Indian IT companies have made return-to-office policies mandatory, even though WFH adoption spiked during the COVID-19 pandemic.
A precedent for gender-inclusive employment policies in India could be established by Andhra Pradesh's WFH initiative for women. However, strategic execution and ongoing assessment of its effects on output and employee engagement are necessary for long-term success.
