UNESCO/Poland Co-Sponsored Fellowships in Engineering: A Gateway to Global Research Excellence

In a bid to foster human resource capacities in developing countries and promote international understanding and friendship, the Polish National Commission for UNESCO and the UNESCO Chair for Science, Technology, and Engineering at the AGH University of Krakow, Poland, have announced the availability of thirty (30) fellowships for individuals from select developing Member States. These fellowships offer recipients the opportunity to undertake individual research programs in the field of Science, Technology, and Engineering for a duration of six months between October 1, 2024, and March 31, 2025.

Inviting applications from a diverse range of countries across Africa, the Arab States, Asia and the Pacific, as well as Latin America and the Caribbean, the program seeks to empower scholars from regions where such opportunities may be limited. The fellowship will take place at the prestigious AGH University of Krakow, providing recipients with access to world-class facilities and a conducive environment for research.

Duration and Place of Fellowship Study

The fellowship will span six months and will be hosted at the UNESCO AGH Chair at AGH University of Krakow, Poland.

Qualifications Required

Candidates are required to meet specific criteria and qualifications outlined in Annex III for each field of research and project. It's important to note that eligibility may vary based on the region of the candidate.

How to Apply - Guidance for Candidates

Prospective applicants are advised to carefully review the terms and conditions outlined in Annex II and the list of research fields and projects in Annex III. Application procedures may vary by country, and candidates should contact the National Commission for UNESCO in their respective countries for guidance on the application process.

Submission and Selection of Candidates

Applications must be endorsed and submitted through the National Commissions for UNESCO of the invited Member States. Only applications endorsed by the National Commissions will be considered. The deadline for submission of applications is May 10, 2024. Selected candidates will be informed by their respective National Commissions and must submit additional documentation to UNESCO by the specified deadline.

Facilities Offered

Selected fellows will receive a monthly allowance, free tuition, access to university facilities, and a one-time special allowance to cover various expenses related to their stay in Poland. Additionally, UNESCO will cover international travel expenses, provide health insurance, and offer a one-time special pocket allowance.

Visa Requirements

Fellows are responsible for obtaining their entry visas to Poland. UNESCO and the Government of the Republic of Poland do not provide allowances to cover passport and visa expenses.

This fellowship program presents a unique opportunity for scholars from developing countries to engage in impactful research and contribute to global knowledge exchange and collaboration in the fields of Science, Technology, and Engineering.
