Honored as the National Teacher of India and spiritual heir of Mahatma Gandhi.

Notable philosopher, reformer, language expert, and proponent of Sarvodaya (well-being of everyone).

Recognized as the figure who provided India with the Bhoodan (Land-Gift) Movement.

Birth and Early Life:

Born on 11 September 1895 in Gagode village, Maharashtra.
Profoundly spiritual from a young age, attracted to the Bhagavad Gita and a life of asceticism.

Following the reading of Gandhi’s speech at BHU, I left formal education, encountered Gandhi at Kochrab Ashram in 1916, and participated in his ashram activities.

Involvement in Liberation Movement:

In 1940, at Gandhi's request, became the first Individual Satyagrahi, representing the force of truth on a personal scale.

Engaged in the Quit India Movement (1942) and Gandhian constructive initiatives (Khadi, Nai Talim, rural industries).

Resided at Sabarmati Ashram in "Vinoba Kutir" and presented lectures on the Gita, which were subsequently published and translated extensively.
Social and Spiritual Contributions:

Bhoodan Movement (1951): Gathered more than 4 million acres of land from property owners and allocated it to farmers without land.

Gramdan (1954): Expanded concept to include the donation of whole villages for communal ownership.

Encouraged peace, independence, hygiene, and rural development.
A prolific writer and polyglot, translated the Bhagavad Gita into Marathi (Geetai) and provided commentary on the Bible, Quran, and Dnyaneshwari.
