Indian telecom companies Jio and Airtel have teamed up with SpaceX to bring Starlink's satellite internet services to India

The first and biggest satellite constellation in the world, Starlink offers high-speed, low-latency broadband internet via Low Earth Orbit (LEO).

Internet via satellite

It is a location-independent wireless internet that offers worldwide coverage via communication satellites orbiting the planet.

Satellites use lasers to communicate with one another, which lessens the need for ground stations.

Internet Service via Starlink Satellite Approximately 7,086 Starlink satellites are currently in orbit.

Every Starlink satellite:

  • Includes three space lasers (Optical Intersatellite Links, or ISLs) that can operate at up to 200 Gbps. These lasers work together to create a global internet mesh throughout the constellation.
  • Uses three dual-band (Ka-band and E-band) antennas and five sophisticated Ku-band phased array antennas to offer high-bandwidth connectivity.
