During the "Ageing with Dignity" event at Rashtrapati Bhawan, significant initiatives for senior citizens

‘Ageing with Dignity’ Event – This event was coordinated by the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment with the goal of promoting an inclusive community for older adults.

Senior projects

Senior Citizen Welfare Portal – This is an all-encompassing online platform designed to empower elderly individuals by providing effortless access to government services. For instance, obtaining government programs, health benefits, social services, and information on pertinent occurrences.

It closes the information divide and fosters digital inclusion, allowing senior citizens to live more informed, independent, and satisfying lives.

5 new Senior Citizen Homes - These establishments comply with the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens (MWPSC) Act.

Tawang (Arunachal Pradesh), Wokha (Nagaland), Vellore (Tamil Nadu), Anakapalli (Andhra Pradesh), and Nainital (Uttarakhand).

They are intended to offer secure, supportive, and respectful living conditions for low-income elderly individuals nationwide. Distribution of Aids and Assistive Devices – These are carried out under the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY).

Signing of MoU with the Brahma Kumaris – It reiterates a united dedication to fostering inter-generational relationships, promoting overall wellness, and building an inclusive community for senior citizens.

Brahma Kumaris is a global spiritual initiative guided by women, focused on personal change and global revitalization through Rajyoga Meditation.

Fast Facts

Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY) – This is a Central Sector Scheme aimed at offering Physical Aids and Assisted-living Devices for elderly individuals from the BPL category.

The costs for executing the program will be covered by the "Senior Citizens' Welfare Fund." It will be executed via the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation (ALIMCO), a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
