Strategic Partnership Formed: KABIL and CSIR-IMMT Join Forces to Advance Critical Minerals Sector
Khanij Bidesh India Limited (KABIL) and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research - Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (CSIR-IMMT) have solidified their collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering technical and knowledge cooperation in critical minerals.
The agreement paves the way for joint research endeavors and the exchange of scientific information between KABIL and CSIR-IMMT. This partnership holds immense significance in India's quest for securing a stable supply of critical minerals essential for various strategic sectors.

Established in 2019, KABIL is a joint venture company formed by National Aluminium Company Ltd. (NALCO), Hindustan Copper Ltd. (HCL), and Mineral Exploration Company Ltd. (MECL). The primary objective of KABIL is to identify, acquire, develop, process, and utilize strategic minerals from overseas locations to cater to India's growing demands.

On the other hand, CSIR-IMMT, formerly known as Regional Research Laboratory, Bhubaneswar, has been at the forefront of research and development in the mining, mineral, and metals industries since its inception in 1964. The institute's focus on basic research and technology programs is geared towards addressing critical R&D challenges and providing advanced process know-how and consultancy services to Indian industries.
By joining forces, KABIL and CSIR-IMMT aim to leverage their respective expertise and resources to advance research and innovation in critical minerals. This collaboration is expected to yield significant breakthroughs in exploration, extraction, processing, and utilization of vital minerals crucial for India's economic growth and strategic interests.
Furthermore, this partnership underscores India's commitment to achieving self-reliance in critical minerals while promoting sustainable development practices.
