"BIMSTEC: Prosperous, Resilient, and Open" is the theme.

Stressing the importance of group development in the face of international uncertainty.

The first in-person meeting in seven years is the BIMSTEC Summit. The regional organization is now chaired by Bangladesh. Initiatives spearheaded by India: Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a thorough 21-point action plan.

Mitigation and Disaster Management: The BIMSTEC Centre of Excellence for Disaster Management was established in India with the goal of promoting cooperation in relief, rehabilitation, and disaster management activities.

The fourth joint exercise between the BIMSTEC Disaster Management Authorities will take place in India this year.

BODHI Program for Youth Skill Development: Professionals, students, researchers, diplomats, and others will be able to take advantage of training and scholarships provided by the BODHI initiative (BIMSTEC for Organized Development of Human Resource Infrastructure).

Every year, 300 young people from BIMSTEC countries will take part in activities in India. This year, India will host the BIMSTEC Athletics Meet in an effort to strengthen ties between individuals.

In 2027, the first BIMSTEC Games will take place. There will also be a BIMSTEC Traditional Music Festival. The Young Professional Visitors program, a hackathon, and the Young Leaders' Summit are examples of youth-focused programs.

Building capacity in cancer care and digital public infrastructure will be the main topics of a pilot study. A proposal has been made to create a Business Summit and a BIMSTEC Chamber of Commerce.

Furthermore, a plan has been put forth to link the payment systems of BIMSTEC member nations with India's Unified Payments Interface (UPI).

It is anticipated that this integration will result in major benefits for industry, trade, and tourism, increasing economic activity on all fronts.

Space Sector: Plans call for the creation of nanosatellites for BIMSTEC member countries, the investigation of ground station construction, and the encouragement of the use of remote sensing data.

Sustainable Maritime Transport Centre: To enhance coordination in capacity building, research, innovation, and the development of maritime policies, a proposal has been made to establish a Sustainable Maritime Transport Centre in India.

Maritime Transport Cooperation Agreement: To improve maritime transportation between South and Southeast Asia, a new agreement has been formed. The objective of this initiative is to expedite trade, reduce shipping costs, and make it easier for people and goods to move around the area.

Summit Results:

Bangkok's BIMSTEC Vision 2030: This is the first long-term plan to increase BIMSTEC's strength, prosperity, and transparency by 2030. The vision places a strong emphasis on improving trade, transportation links, and people's safety and well-being.

BIMSTEC Rules of Procedure: This document provides clear guidelines for the group's operational framework, promoting easier and more effective group collaboration.

Maritime Transport Cooperation Agreement: To improve maritime transportation between South and Southeast Asia, a new agreement has been formed. The objective of this initiative is to expedite trade, reduce shipping costs, and make it easier for people and goods to move around the area.

About BIMSTEC: In 1997, the Bangkok Declaration was signed, creating the regional cooperation organization known as BIMSTEC. It unites countries that border the Bay of Bengal in South and Southeast Asia.

Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, and Thailand were founding members in 1997.

Present Members: Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Thailand are the organization's current seven member states.

The main goals are to support member nations' economic growth, advance social progress, and encourage breakthroughs across a range of industries, including science, technology, and economic growth.
