Expanding Strategic Partnerships for Regional Security and Stability

India is working closely with countries in the Indo-Pacific region on maritime issues. This is part of Indias plan to make the Indo-Pacific a free, open and fair region. With more trade happening by sea and new security challenges India is deepening its cooperation with countries that share goals.
Key Highlights:

A key part of this cooperation is naval exercises and talks between countries. India regularly takes part in exercises with one or more countries to improve how well their navies work together strengthen coordination and boost maritime capabilities. The Malabar Exercise is an example of countries working together.
Strategic talks are also being strengthened. These talks help address security concerns like piracy, illegal fishing, maritime disputes and humanitarian assistance. They help countries share information, coordinate policies and build trust.
Another focus area is making sure ships can sail freely and safely. India has always said that countries should follow law, especially the rules about free navigation and peaceful resolution of disputes. Secure sea routes are crucial for trade and energy supplies making maritime stability very important.
India is also working closely with countries on issues like knowing whats happening at sea, coastal security and helping smaller island and coastal nations in the region build their capacities.

It also boosts Indias presence in the region making it a key player in security and geopolitics.
* From a perspective secure sea routes are vital for trade, energy imports and supply chain resilience all of which are crucial for Indias economic growth.
* Indias growing maritime cooperation in the Indo-Pacific shows its approach to regional engagement and security. Through exercises, strategic partnerships and support, for freedom of navigation India is contributing to a stable and secure Indo-Pacific while reinforcing its role as a major regional power.
