Concerning the aviation industry in India:

The third-largest domestic aviation market in the world (following the USA and China), with total air passengers hitting 37.6 crore in FY24 (15% year-on-year growth).

Operational airports rose from 74 in 2014 to 157 in 2024, with a target of 350–400 airports by 2047.

The UDAN Scheme (2016) enhanced air connectivity in Tier 2/3 cities, covering 583 routes, 86 airports, 2.8 lakh flights, and serving 1.43 crore passengers.

In India, women pilots make up 15%, significantly higher than the global average of 5%.

Carbon neutrality initiatives: ACI Level 4+ accreditation granted to airports in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru.

Aviation safety ranking enhanced: From 102 (2018) to 48 (2022) in ICAO’s Effective Implementation (EI) audit, achieving an 85.49% score, higher than China, Israel, and Turkey.
