CBSE assured candidates of a fresh examination after unavoidable circumstances disrupted Paper 2 at two Bihar centers, even as the test concluded smoothly across most locations.

The Central Teacher Eligibility Test 2026 faced disruption at two examination centers in Bihar after logistical issues forced authorities to cancel Paper 2 at those venues, while the exam proceeded smoothly elsewhere in the country.
The affected centers were St John’s Academy in Basmati Nagar and Lakshya International Academy, both located in Vaishali district’s Hajipur area.

The problem occurred on Feb 7 during the conduct of Paper 2. Officials said the question paper reached St John’s Academy much later than scheduled, reportedly around 11 am, triggering confusion and unrest among candidates. Given the situation and other unavoidable circumstances, the examination was canceled at both centers.
The CBSE later clarified that the disruption was limited in scope. Out of 1,803 CTET examination centers nationwide, Paper 2 was conducted successfully at 1,801 locations, with only the two centers in Vaishali affected.
In a statement posted on social media platform X, CBSE said the examination at the two centers could not be held due to unavoidable reasons and assured candidates that a re-examination would be arranged within 15 days. The revised schedule will be announced separately.
“Out of 1803 examination centers across the country, Paper 2 of CTET was conducted successfully at 1801 centers. However, the examination at two centers in Vaishali (Hajipur) — St John’s Academy and Lakshya International Academy, could not be held due to unavoidable circumstances,” CBSE stated.
The board also confirmed that candidates scheduled to appear at these two centers will be allowed to take the re-examination, and details will be communicated directly to them. CBSE reiterated that the cancellation does not affect the overall examination process.
The CTET 2026 is being conducted on Feb 7 and 8 in 132 cities across India in pen-and-paper mode. This year, 2,530,581 candidates registered for the test, with more than 7.6 lakh applications submitted in the final 48 hours before the registration window closed on Dec 18.
CTET consists of two papers. Paper I is meant for candidates aspiring to teach classes 1 to 5, while Paper 2 is for those aiming to teach classes 6 to 8. The papers include multiple-choice questions on child development and pedagogy, language, mathematics, environmental studies, and subject-specific content.
The results of CTET 2026 are expected to be declared in the last week of March 2026 or early April 2026. Candidates will be able to check their results on the official website ctet.nic.in and through DigiLocker.
Clearing CTET makes candidates eligible to apply for teaching positions in central government schools such as Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, and Army Public Schools.
The qualification is mandatory for recruitment through the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board and is accepted by several Union Territories. Many private schools also give preference to CTET-qualified candidates.
The CTET certificate now has lifetime validity, allowing successful candidates to apply for government teaching jobs at any stage of their careers.
