The projects are being implemented through multiple funding channels, including the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund, the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme, and the Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for the North East Region, or PM-DevINE.

Education Minister Ranoj Pegu on Jan 23 reviewed the status of the construction work during a meeting with officials from the Public Works Department and the Education Department. The review emphasized adherence to timelines and quality benchmarks during execution.

Officials said 58 of the 487 school buildings have already been completed. These facilities are slated to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Feb 2.

The construction program forms part of the state government’s wider push to strengthen education infrastructure, improve learning conditions, and provide upgraded facilities for students and teachers across Assam.
