Andhra Pradesh partners with Australia to strengthen inclusive education and vocational skills

Andhra Pradesh and Australia signed three Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to strengthen cooperation in inclusive education, student mental health, and skill development, expanding bilateral collaboration in the education sector.

The agreements were signed in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Minister for Education, Information Technology and Electronics Nara Lokesh and Australia's Assistant Minister for International Education, Citizenship, Customs and Multicultural Affairs Julian Hill.

According to the Andhra Pradesh government, the partnerships cover teacher training for inclusive education, mental health support for students, and industry-oriented vocational education to improve employability and global career opportunities.

In a post on X, Lokesh said preparing young people for international careers remains one of the state's key priorities. "Preparing our youth for global opportunities is one of our highest priorities."

"Our partnership between APSSDC and Dynamic Learning Services (Australia) will strengthen vocational education, industry-aligned skilling, professional certifications and pathways to international employment," he added.

Referring to student well-being, Lokesh said academic achievement should be accompanied by emotional support. "Academic success must go hand in hand with emotional wellbeing."

"Through our partnership with Rebound Dimple, Andhra Pradesh will launch a pilot program across selected higher education institutions to support students' mental health and wellbeing,” he said.

"The platform will provide confidential access to wellness assessments, evidence-based mental health resources and virtual counselling support-ensuring students can seek help safely and without stigma," he added.

The minister said in a press release that the agreements followed discussions during his visit to Australia with leading universities, research institutions, industry leaders, and government representatives, where he showcased Andhra Pradesh's investment-friendly ecosystem and invited Australian institutions to partner with the state.

Under one MoU, the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV), and Samagra Shiksha Andhra Pradesh will work together to strengthen inclusive education by training teachers to support children with autism and other neurodiverse learning needs through specialized professional development and teaching resources.

Another agreement between the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) and Australia's Rebound will introduce a free pilot project in selected higher education institutions, providing students with confidential wellness assessments, evidence-based mental health resources, and virtual counseling services through a technology-enabled platform.

A third MoU, signed between the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) and Australia's Dynamic Learning Services (DLS), aims to enhance vocational education, workforce development, industry-aligned training, globally recognized professional certifications, and international employment pathways.
