AICTE partners with Nemetschek India to upskill 25,000 students for emerging AEC industry roles

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nemetschek India Private Limited to establish Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) Centres of Excellence at 10 AICTE-affiliated institutions.

The collaboration will focus on industry-relevant learning and skill development for students pursuing Civil Engineering and related disciplines. More than 25,000 students are expected to receive upskilling and reskilling opportunities under the initiative.

The program will also include a three-credit skilling course and a 50-hour training program on Building Information Modelling (BIM), aimed at preparing students for emerging roles in the AEC industry.

Separately, AICTE has launched the AICTE Innovation and Entrepreneurship Doctoral Fellowship Programme (AIEDFP) to promote doctoral research focused on practical solutions and innovation.

AICTE Chairman Professor Yogesh Singh and Member Secretary Professor Shyama Rath launched the fellowship program.

The initiative has a proposed financial outlay of ₹245 crore over five years and is expected to support 150 PhD fellowships. It will focus on research areas including innovation, entrepreneurship, technology transfer, commercialization, and societal impact.

The program is intended to encourage doctoral research that addresses real-world challenges and supports outcomes beyond academic work.

Selected fellows will receive ₹60,000 per month during the first three years, along with applicable House Rent Allowance (HRA). The fellowship amount will increase to ₹70,000 per month, plus applicable HRA, during the fourth and fifth years.
