After 40 years of struggle, former Naxal hub Mutvendi welcomes its first school

After more than 40 years of struggle, Mutvendi village in the Bijapur district—once a notoriously naxal-affected area—has made history by opening its first school.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the Chhattisgarh government's revolutionary 'Niyad Nellanar' plan includes this historic accomplishment.

For the upcoming generations of the area, the plan seeks to illuminate a beacon of opportunity and optimism.

According to the Chhattisgarh government, the goal of "Niyad Nellnar," or "Your ideal village," is to guarantee that every village gets the bare necessities and is comparable to developed places.

The initiative, which is being carried out in five districts, including Bijapur, focuses on 90 villages that are surrounded by 23 security camps that are dispersed over eight development blocks.

It aims to offer individualized government programs and necessary public services within a 5-km radius of the camps.

In a significant development, eight government schools in Balrampur's Chandra Nagar area are pioneering a “bagless learning model.”

This initiative by the State Education Department allows students from Classes 1 to 8 to bring only a notebook and pen, easing academic pressure.

District Education Officer DN Mishra highlights that this approach creates a more balanced learning environment, with plans to expand the model to other districts.
